Divorce is becoming more prominent in the U.S. Many times married couples don't consider who will be effected by their choice to separate. However, divorce doesn't only effect the two married individuals, but it effects many people around them. Divorce heavily effects their:
- Children
- "Children whose parents have divorced are increasingly the victims of abuse. They exhibit more health, behavioral, and emotional problems"
- Family Members
- Extended family members are forced into awkward situations, sometimes are forced to cut ties with the divorced individual.
- Neighborhoods/Family Friends
- Neighbors/Family Friends may be forced into choosing "favorites" between the couples, which may lead to uncomfortable/awkward situations; crippling relationships and creating tension between friends (1).
